Come hear Pete Melvin, partner of the design team Morrelli & Melvin, designers of Steve Fossett's Playstation. Morrelli & Melvin are international leaders in the design of multihull yachts, both sail and power. They are one of Americas' most prolific multihull designers and are known worldwide for their race winning and record setting catamarans and trimarans. Morrelli & Melvin was established in 1992 by Gino Morrelli and Pete Melvin. Both Pete and Gino have extensive and complimentary backgrounds in sailboat racing and design. Both Pete and Gino are actively involved with racing as are their associates at Morrelli & Melvin. Pete Melvin's dual career paths in aerospace engineering and sailboat racing united with the formation of Morrelli & Melvin. Pete graduated from Boston University in 1985 with a Bachelors Degree in Aerospace Engineering. He gained invaluable experience working on the design of future military and commercial aircraft configurations as an Advanced Design Engineer and team leader at McDonnell Douglas. Pete was exposed to advanced technology analysis methods, materials, and team management skills which are used daily at Morrelli & Melvin. Pete's sailboat racing career has consistently shown his ability to win. With many national and world titles to his credit he brings the racers mentality to the business daily. He is the 1997 A Class Catamaran World Champion (on a Morrelli & Melvin designed boat) and represented the USA in the 1988 Olympic Games in the 20' Tornado class catamaran. Cost is $35 per person. From the South: I-93 (Southeast Expressway) North to the Central Artery in Boston. Just North of the South Station tunnel, take Exit 22 (Atlantic Ave./Congress Ave./Ted Williams Airport Tunnel). At the light, stay right to go onto Northern Ave. toward the Seaport and Airport, and cross the channel. Turn left at the 2nd light after the bridge, and immediately bear right into the Anthony's parking lot. From the West: Mass. Pike East all the way to the end, then bear left onto I-93 North, then follow "From the South" directions. You will be exiting almost immediately. From the North: I-93 South to the Central Artery in Boston, then take Exit 22 (South Station). Turn left at the top of the ramp, and drive past South Station and across the channel. Turn left at the 3rd light after the bridge, and take another quick left at the water. Immediately bear right into the Anthony's parking lot. Parking at Anthony's Pier 4 is Free! | ||
